Twenty four year old Houston native Brandon Jones aka Swift gears up for the highly anticipated release of “500 Grams”. This latest project however is personal to Swift. After a major set back split from his former group the Rich Kid$ Swift 16 years old at the time was emotionally devastated. The group was extremely talented and with the help of the Storm the group fine tuned a commercially palatable balance of youthful Ivy League type street hustlers mixed with the grit grind of enterprising young cats straight off the block. Their image was effortlessly flawless they seemed well on their way to being the new image of the South. Many compared Swift who grew up in Houston’s Third Ward and later migrated to the Southwest to being likened to the Lil Wayne of the trio. Therefore when relationships splintered young Swift was obviously dealt a major set back. “More than anything I wanted to complete 500 Grams because so many people counted me out and didn’t think I could do it” says Swift.
Known for his signature delivery Swift was the architect behind many of his former group’s catchy hooks and has developed the discipline and work ethic of a seasoned veteran. In short he is everything the streets talk about… the life the struggle the truth. A sheer lyricist by trade he brings the type of complex rhyme patterns metaphors explosiveness seldom found in many rappers. Widely known for his mind-blowing introductions suspense filled rising action and dramatic climaxes he articulates his lyrical plot with precision. Humble in nature Swift is a delight to hear. But dont get it wrong. The kid is definitely deadly with the flow. Moreover with a solid fan base and a massive appeal to the youth young adults and even old school vets Swift’s latest work shows you he is able to be young and have fun and still deliver the type of riveting heat that proves he is indeed capable of holding his own even in a class of the region’s most elite emcees....(Read less) |
