A born singer Matthew Phoenix sang all his life and performed for various audiences when events would arise such as closing a concert for the late great Buddy Knox in 1992. In 2004 a new journey of healing for Matthew was created due to a life threatening brain tumour... He was then advised that he would likely never be able to live a normal life again... The road to rehabilitation would be long but a new found focus and gift of music began to flow. Matthew slowly began to sing again and stunned audiences with the beauty of his voice choosing songs that reflected both connection and inspiration. .He picked up a guitar and painstakingly learned to play once more. Many hours of repetition to learn even the simplest of chord structures were applied. Matthew began to write “Life is good” “Road to me” “Time keeps chasing” and “Little Boy Blue” along with many others. His close circle of friends family and early fans watched in awe as he grew into an inspirational artist and songwriter. Over the period of the next three years Matthew completed his first EP entitled “A Universe of one”. These works went on to later be included in his full length album entitled “Surface of the moon”. Recorded in the summer of 2009 and released on December 15th 2009. Both of which were engineered and produced by close friend and mentor Bob Gabelhouse @ Big Audio Productions Kelowna B.C. Canada. On March 25th 2010 Matthew Phoenix had his first CD debut release concert at “The Rotary Centre of the Arts” in Kelowna and was blessed to play alongside some of the industries finest musicians. A write up on Matthew’s story was published in the daily courier “Event section” and a download for the song “Little boy blue” was placed in the “Vancouver Province”. He has even managed to achieve getting his music on full rotation with a local radio station “The Juice 103.9” as well as Merritt’s Q101.1. Cfox 99.3 Vancouver and The Ocean 98.5 Victoria have also been reported to have played his tunes.
