Born in Chicago Ly-Gene began using his gift of song from God as a child in the church choir under the Rev. James Cowthran Jr. His strong vocals led him to become a lead vocalist on many songs. As a teenager he gained a strong interest in spittin rhymes. With his cousin Antoine A-Sharp Davis by his side He took his new craft to the streets. He became an instant success with his freestyle ability. Pulling lyrics from the top of dome and giving them to the crowds on the streets. With the success came rewards. He was victorious in talent shows and other local venues. Some of the winnings translated to bigger rewards such as being the feature artist on a sunday morning tv talk show. He has also recieved high recognition in the Chicagos Best Freestyle Artist contest colabing with A-Sharp to put a show stopper together. He recieved many accomplishments over the years at many different venues but on the streets his reputation was undeniable. He was simply the best freestyle artist there was. His musical inspiration came from the artists of the late 60s 70s and early 80s as well as many gospel artists from the old to the new. His inspiration for Hip-Hop comes from artist such as Rakim KRS1 PRT and more. He began to colab with The King of Thieves back in 2008. The product came to a hault when the two were forced to go in their own directions. Reunited in 2009 the two quikly planned for studio time when they had found the right one. They met a producer named T-Wiskey who supplied the flavor they were looking for. The single Sight for Sore Eyes (Ghetto Swagg) was born. So here we are at this point in Ly-Genes journey.
