Phenom is a Chicago artist who was born and raised in one of the most infamous projects located between the four walls North Ave. Chicago Ave. Halsted Ave. Orleans Court on the Northwest side of Chicago known as the Cabrini O Greens. The Cabrini O Greens were boxed in by the GDs Cobra Stones Black Stones the Vice Lords. Phenom did not want to follow in the footsteps of his uncles his only brother who was apart of the Gangster Disciples murder drug movement. At this time his mother packed up the two brothers and moved them out west so they could have a better life his brother decided to still hang out in the parts that was no longer accepted by his mother. There he became big in the game while Phenom stayed straight as long as he could. At the age of fourteen he started to listen to rap to find an outlet to his life. He attended Oak Park River Forest High School where you wouldnt believe who walked the halls with him Mr. Def Jam himself LUDACRIS. They had their fair share of battles and yes Phenom always was the victor. Phenom went on to form the group Peepin Toms that later signed with Eric-E-Smooth of Focus Music where he and Kanye West were both apart of. At the age of eighteen Phenom ped his first hit Willie Snap Box that was added to a mixtape on the west coast that led to Phenom being asked to host a 2-Pac birthday bash in 1997. This also led him to become opening acts for other big name artist like Wu-Tang Death Poets Common Talibkwali KRS One Mos Def and many many more. Later in 2000 P. Diddy came to Chicago with then new artist G-Deap where Phenom helped write a radio with WGCI Get This Money Make That Money of course his classic hit Special Delivery. Phenom at this time realized that he was what the music industry was looking for but then passed like most on a record deal with Bad Boy Records due to not wanting to be shelved until after he brought out the New Edition Re Album. He moved on....... In 2001 he went on to win thousands of rap battles atGeorge Music Room which led him to the finals in New York in the 7up Source Battle where he came in second to D 12s-Proof R.I.P.. After all of that he still managed to keep his grind. Thats when he formed the group Poetree of Chicago and took over the poetry scene. They went on to travel the world like Asia United Kingdom etc. Phenom believes that ARs are not available in the Chi because when companies like Atlantic Records did come they signed the artist Bump J and he got a $1000000 deal and blew it on things other than music and that made other labels stay away and that is why the Chi is looked down upon. After trying to stay true to himself realizing that the industry wanted him to be something he wasnt thats when he made a trip to see his brother PG who was doing his last few months of his sentence to let him know what was going on with the major record labels wanting him to be more commercial. So at this time PG and his wife decided to invest their savings to help create the label Project Born Records. There is where Phenom used Eric-E-Smooth self esteem to fuel his dream ego VK to get him on the main stream radio since that is what they wanted. So with the help of his brother and The Hottest DJ in the land DJ Sean Mac Power 92.3 radio personality Seandale-Morning traffic and RawT.V host Stoney Stables-Street Promos and the hottest radio show in the morning with 1 Disc jockey Trey Da Chocolate Jok they launched Snapp Back They Clap Lock Loaded and Tragedy. So now that Project Born Records Inc. Verbal Production Company has been launched we will become the voice of the Midwest located in the Chi-City. Now other artist will be heard main stream from the Midwest with the big dawgs like Chicagos very own CapOne Twista Common Talibkwali Crucial Conflict Snipers Psycho Drama Do or Die Kanye West an Phenom D-Town Slim Shady D-12 STLs Nelly Murphy Lee Chingy J-Kwon Young Dip and many more.
