How to get started! |
SIGN-UP:
* The first obvious thing to do if you are an Artist or in a Band is to sign-up.
I would say that most of you that signed up on IndieCharts.com did so to
get heard and discovered, or to get opinions of what people in the music
industry and your peers think of your material.
Well, I am going to give you some tips on how to make IndieCharts.com
work for you:
First of all, you can get a lot more on IC then you think. You can get the
big boys in the music industry to hear and notice you, if you do things right.
I'll make it easy and put things in the order as if I just signed up.
YOUR SONG(s):
* Sweet and simple, put your best song(s) on top (the obvious).
THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE COMING UP NEXT IF YOU'RE REALLY SERIOUS IN
PROMOTING YOURSELF ON IC. (I would'nt start taking any of our advise below until
you're done creating your great profile page).
INTERACT WITH OTHERS:
* Start interacting with others right away. Exchange reviews and read
their bio's and listen to their song(s). This will get the ball rolling.
MEMBER REVIEWS:
* Having your music reviewed by the members is how you are positioned on our member charts.
It also helps our Panel Review Board know what the members on our site think of you.
* If you feel your music is good already, which most do, ask for the most honest reviews
from other artists. You may be curious to know what they like, but
knowing what they don't like is the most important thing. That will really tell you
what you need to know to help you grow and improve. Please don't get offended if they tell
you things that you don't like, instead thank them.
* If you tell someone that you will trade reviews, do it! First of all, they can see if you did your
part and so can others, it shows in everyones edit profile page. By the way, it's just un-cool
not to keep your word. Trust is very important on Indie Charts.
COMMENTS:
* Leaving comments so others can see them are great for you. It tells others how involved you are.
Personally, I want to make friends and fans with people that are involved because I know that
they are taking the music industry serious.
PANEL RANKING REQUEST:
* Probably the most important thing on IndieCharts.com is having our Panel Review Board
rank your overall musicianship, production, composition, instruments, theme, etc., which puts
you on our Panel Charts.
* Since each song is reviewed, you also have a greater chance of getting on the top 100 best
songs.
* The Panel Review gives you, the artist or band, a greater
chance to be heard and discovered by being placed on
the Panel Charts.
* The default on the Top Charts is the Panel Charts.
Being on both charts (Panel and Member) gives you the best
exposure possible.
* A Panel Review is one of the main heart beats of IndieCharts.com.
All Panel Reviews are done by our professional panel, and
each and every song is heard by pro ears.
Music industry professionals such as publicists, producers, managers, talent scouts, record labels and radio stations use IndieCharts.com to discover and find Indie and Unsigned music artists. These professionals seek artists from our charts knowing that the songs have already been screened by our panel and other music artists.
